These are the rules a tool can measure. Amazon also reviews what the image shows, so a pass here doesn't guarantee approval.
Why Amazon says your background isn't pure white
A background can look white and still be RGB 245–250, especially in phone photos and supplier images. Amazon asks for exactly 255.
Source: Amazon product photos · Last checked 14 October 2026The checker shows how much of your background is exactly 255, so you can see the difference you can't see by eye.
Shadows and reflections near the product edge are the most common near-white areas.

How the 85% fill is measured
Source: Amazon product photos (image-fill recommendation) · Last checked 14 October 2026Shelfcanvas finds the product's outer edge (everything that isn't white) and measures it against the image on the longer side.
White or very light products can blend into the background and measure smaller than they are — check the outline the tool draws.
Treat the number as a guide to image fill; Amazon's exact measurement method is unpublished.
